“I got sick with an autoimmune disease that’s a pain disorder and I made the conscious decision to shut down my successful company of ten years. I spent five days in my artist friend’s studio just watching the process of her painting and how she wiped the paint off on her pants. My hands are really affected by this disease and they give me a lot of pain. Strangely enough, when I wasn’t feeling well—mentally or physically—I wanted to paint. It was extremely therapeutic. So when I finally started hand-painting these jeans, I knew they had to benefit children in hospitals, making sure that these art therapy programs are fully funded.”
